Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa is one of only a few resort islands in the Meemu Atoll, a 40-minute seaplane flight from Malé airport. It sits on one of the longest reefs in the Maldives, with a large sparkling lagoon, and has excellent snorkelling just steps from the beach. Now a fully adults-only resorts, it's all about laid-back island vibes, romantic days and peaceful evenings. The only tough choice? Whether to stay on the main island or stay on Platinum Island, which is home to 20 beach bungalows and an extra dash of exclusivity, with its own pool, bar and restaurant.
Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa is one of the few resort islands in the Meemu Atoll. It sits on one of the longest reefs in the Maldives, with a large sparkling lagoon, and has great snorkelling just steps from the beach. The staff here are super friendly and nothing is too much trouble.
If you’re staying on the main island, it’s all about the classic overwater bungalow experience: think white-roofed rooms perched on stilts over the clear lagoon waters. Malaafaiy is the main buffet restaurant and it has an impressive choice of local and international dishes. This is where you’ll have all your meals if you’re staying on the main island. We recommend sampling the fresh à la carte seafood at popular The Crab Restaurant at least once during your stay. For drinks, head to Veli Lounge & Bar, which is located by the pool and is the social hub of the island with live music and games. You’ll find total relaxation at the Mandara Spa, which specialises in Balinese massages.
Hakuraa Huraa’s second island is a newer adults-only ‘resort within a resort’. Platinum Island is connected to the main island by a walkway and has its own restaurant, bar and pool exclusively for Platinum guests, and you’ll be able to use all the main island’s facilities, too. There are just 20 beach bungalows on this small island retreat – perfect for couples looking for a more romantic escape.
Surrounded by a shallow lagoon, the two islands that make up Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa are the epitome of tropical bliss.

If you want access to the exclusive facilities on Platinum Island, you’ll have to choose a Platinum Beach Bungalow. Otherwise, decide between a Beach Bungalow or Water Bungalow – both options are spacious, private, and wonderfully contemporary in their styling. While access to the exclusive Platinum Island is tempting, staying over the lagoon in a Water Bungalow is even harder to resist. There are 100 bungalows in total.

The Crab Restaurant serves up delicious à la carte seafood for lunch or dinner, pre-booking is recommended. Guests of adults-only Platinum Island have exclusive access to Manzaru Restaurant for relaxed international buffets, plus the Vevu Bar & Lounge for drinks with pool and lagoon views.

Diving in the Maldives
In the South Malé Atoll, Hukrueli is another place to see rays and cleaner fish, and Maaya Thila, a protected marine area, is home to white-tip sharks, turtles, zebra morays and the elusive guitar shark. Hanifaru lagoon in the Baa Atoll is one of the best places to see whale sharks and manta rays – June to September being the best time as this is during the monsoon season and equinox when the lagoon is filled with plankton. The Scuba Diver course provides pre-entry level certification in three days and on completion you can then upgrade to an Open Water Diver qualification by taking the additional five day course. Our Ten Dives and Six Consecutive Days diving allow qualified divers to make the most of their time in these beautiful islands. Courses are available at Kurumba Maldives, Dhigali Maldives, Velidhu and Meeru.

When is the best time to visit the Maldives?
November to April is the dry season, with the most reliable sunshine and calmest seas. May to October brings shorter rain showers, lower prices and better surf.
What currency is used in the Maldives, and do I need cash?
The local currency is the Maldivian rufiyaa, but resorts price and bill in US dollars and take major cards. Most guests never need cash — a small amount is handy for tipping.
Is the Maldives good for honeymoons outside peak season?
Yes. Off-peak brings noticeably lower rates and quieter islands, and rain tends to come in short bursts rather than all day. Many resorts add honeymoon extras during these months.
What activities are there for older kids and teens in the Maldives?
Most resorts run watersports centres with windsurfing, kayaking and paddleboarding, plus PADI dive courses from around age ten. Snorkelling safaris, sandbank trips and night fishing all suit older children.
