Arriving at Emerald Maldives is a pinch-me-is-this-true moment. White, white sands and blue, blue sea. Watersports aplenty; kayaking, Hobie Cats, windsurfing, diving and snorkelling. Beachfront Aqua is the island’s main buffet restaurant, serving up international classics for breakfast, lunch and dinner each day. Head to the relaxed The Beach Club Grill for favourites such as meat and veg cooked on a stone grill, fresh fish, seafood and pizzas, or tuck into traditional Brazilian barbecue dishes at Carnivorous . Le Asiatique and Teppanyaki Grill offers teppanyaki and flavours faithful to Asian culinary traditions and recipes, while Mediterraneo provides a fantastic overwater Mediterranean experience.
For drinks and snacks, there’s the Sunset Bar by the pool and come evening, the overwater Eclipse Bar is the place to be.
You’ll need to pre-book a table at the dinner-only restaurants: Le Asiatique, Carnivorous and Mediterraneo.
Mediterraneo claims the best spot on the island for views. Dine over the water on fresh and fabulous Mediterranean dishes. Delightful!
Aqua — Beneath a high-vaulted ceiling, the island’s main buffet restaurant serves international classics for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Beach Club — Right on the sand, Beach Club is a casual lunchtime eatery with a pizza and pasta station. Carnivorous — Drawing on South American dishes and inspired by Brazilian steakhouses. Mediterraneo — Set over the water, this is the perfect place for romantic sunset dinners. La Asiatique and Teppanyaki Grill — Authentic Asian cuisine served from a Teppanyaki Grill. Sunset Bar — Right next to the pool, Sunset Bar serves drinks all day and into the evening. Eclipse Bar — The island’s most coveted spot at the end of a jetty with private booths and sunset views.

Diving in the Maldives
In the South Malé Atoll, Hukrueli is another place to see rays and cleaner fish, and Maaya Thila, a protected marine area, is home to white-tip sharks, turtles, zebra morays and the elusive guitar shark. Hanifaru lagoon in the Baa Atoll is one of the best places to see whale sharks and manta rays – June to September being the best time as this is during the monsoon season and equinox when the lagoon is filled with plankton. The Scuba Diver course provides pre-entry level certification in three days and on completion you can then upgrade to an Open Water Diver qualification by taking the additional five day course. Our Ten Dives and Six Consecutive Days diving allow qualified divers to make the most of their time in these beautiful islands. Courses are available at Kurumba Maldives, Dhigali Maldives, Velidhu and Meeru.

Do I need a visa to visit the Maldives?
British passport holders are issued a free 30-day visitor visa on arrival. You'll need a passport valid for the duration of your stay, a confirmed onward ticket and proof of your accommodation booking.
When is the best time to visit the Maldives?
November to April is the dry season, with the most reliable sunshine and calmest seas. May to October brings shorter rain showers, lower prices and better surf.
What currency is used in the Maldives, and do I need cash?
The local currency is the Maldivian rufiyaa, but resorts price and bill in US dollars and take major cards. Most guests never need cash — a small amount is handy for tipping.
Is the Maldives good for honeymoons outside peak season?
Yes. Off-peak brings noticeably lower rates and quieter islands, and rain tends to come in short bursts rather than all day. Many resorts add honeymoon extras during these months.
What activities are there for older kids and teens in the Maldives?
Most resorts run watersports centres with windsurfing, kayaking and paddleboarding, plus PADI dive courses from around age ten. Snorkelling safaris, sandbank trips and night fishing all suit older children.
