A warm sea breeze drifts through the open-sided timber cabana at the main buffet restaurant Vakaru, where different themed cuisines are paired with spectacular ocean views. Dhiyavaru Restaurant juts out over the lagoon for a scenic overwater dining experience – the menu draws on both West and East influences, and highlights include fresh fish and seafood, like grilled lobster or lagoon prawns in coconut gravy. Huvandhu Garden is a romantic spot for Maldivian fine dining, with a scattering of thatched cabanas along the shore illuminated by torches. For the same toes-in-the-sand experience but more casual food, try Reethi Grill for smoky grills and a soundtrack of gently lapping waves. Raalhu Café is a poolside haunt for fast-food eats. The new restaurant, Veggie & Vegan, serves a meat-free menu full of dishes that are bursting with flavour.

For drinks, Haruge Bar is the social hub of the resort, with a big-screen TV, games rooms and live entertainment, while Nala is its tranquil alter-ego – a tiny spot with a handful of bar stools at the eastern tip of the island. There’s a cluster of deckchairs for relaxed cocktails. Veyo Bar is a lively drinking den by the infinity pool – expect colourful cocktails and blue-on-blue views – while Sunset Bar is the spot to see the sky streaked pink.
