Contemporary, all-inclusive and wonderfully remote
A 45-minute seaplane journey whisks you to this lesser-developed and lesser-known part of the Maldives on the Raa Atoll. Excellent hospitality and cool modern features are highlights here, but in this less developed atoll you can also gain a real sense of local culture. Dhigali feels more youthful than others, with a roster of impressive sustainability credentials. The resort’s Premium All Inclusive goes beyond the norm and includes a Dolphin Cruise or a Sunset Cruise and a glass bottom boat trip.
One of the Maldives's newer resorts, Dhigali sits in the remote Raa Atoll. It can be reached by a short domestic flight and boat ride from Malé airport, but we recommend a scenic seaplane journey of just 45 minutes. Excellent hospitality and cool modern design features are highlights here, but in this less-developed atoll you can also gain a real sense of local culture.
There’s a house reef in swimming distance and a lagoon for watersports, plus a stunning sandbank at the tip of the island. One of the highlights of the resort is the Premium All Inclusive package which includes two excursions, fitness activities and cultural experiences alongside those standard all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink perks. Dining is innovative and authentic, with the style and atmosphere of each restaurant reflecting the cuisine. There’s a particular focus on fresh Asian flavours, including at the signature restaurant, Battuta, which serves dishes from North Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Capers is the main restaurant, and there's also the Café, all-day dining at Jade, and freshly grilled meats and fish at Faru. At sunset, make your way to the upper level of Haali (the sunset bar) with a cocktail in hand.

Food & drink
Dining choices are varied, interesting, and delicious at Dhigali. Capers, the main buffet, has an ever-changing theme, but you’ll want to make the most of this resort and try the three speciality a la carte options, including a grill restaurant and a restaurant serving Middle Eastern and Asian-inspired dishes. For quick bites, there’s a café and a pizzeria.
Cuisine at Dhigali spans the spices of Asia, the classic tastes of Europe and traditional Maldivian recipes, together with more innovative modern dishes. Capers is the main restaurant and combines international cuisine with local flavours. Jade opens all day, serving up comfort food and light bites, while the Café serves freshly-made snacks and drinks. Faru specialises in beachside grilled meats and seafood, and in a tropical setting, Battuta offers signature dishes. The two bars provide the choice of casual poolside drinks at East and sundowners at Haali. At the Pop Up Pizzeria you can enjoy freshly cooked pizzas with either traditional toppings or unique flavours.
Jade has particularly wonderful views to enjoy by day and takes on a more romantic feel from sunset and beyond.
Capers — The resort’s main buffet restaurant is bound to become a favourite location. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served here with choices including international favourites and local dishes. Faru — The open kitchen of this grill restaurant adds an element of theatre to dining, whether you come for the a la carte lunch or plump for a sunset dinner. Pizzeria — Open daily from 11am to 6pm, this hut-style pizzeria operates on a takeaway basis – perfect for when you get a little peckish on the beach. Haali — A bar that’s open all day but particularly atmospheric at sunset when you can find a comfy spot on the beach to water the display with a glass of bubbles in hand. Café — Open daily from 10am to 5pm. Pick up coffees, cakes, pastries, and sandwiches whenever the mood strikes. Battuta — A refined, evening-only restaurant with dishes inspired by Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Jade — The open sides of Jade allow an ocean breeze to ripple through as diners select from a la menus for dinner. East — An all-day al fresco bar serving cocktails, wines, and beers.

Diving in the Maldives
In the South Malé Atoll, Hukrueli is another place to see rays and cleaner fish, and Maaya Thila, a protected marine area, is home to white-tip sharks, turtles, zebra morays and the elusive guitar shark. Hanifaru lagoon in the Baa Atoll is one of the best places to see whale sharks and manta rays – June to September being the best time as this is during the monsoon season and equinox when the lagoon is filled with plankton. The Scuba Diver course provides pre-entry level certification in three days and on completion you can then upgrade to an Open Water Diver qualification by taking the additional five day course. Our Ten Dives and Six Consecutive Days diving allow qualified divers to make the most of their time in these beautiful islands. Courses are available at Kurumba Maldives, Dhigali Maldives, Velidhu and Meeru.

Do I need a visa to visit the Maldives?

When is the best time to visit the Maldives?
November to April is the dry season, with the most reliable sunshine and calmest seas. May to October brings shorter rain showers, lower prices and better surf.
What currency is used in the Maldives, and do I need cash?
The local currency is the Maldivian rufiyaa, but resorts price and bill in US dollars and take major cards. Most guests never need cash — a small amount is handy for tipping.
Is the Maldives good for honeymoons outside peak season?
Yes. Off-peak brings noticeably lower rates and quieter islands, and rain tends to come in short bursts rather than all day. Many resorts add honeymoon extras during these months.
What activities are there for older kids and teens in the Maldives?
Most resorts run watersports centres with windsurfing, kayaking and paddleboarding, plus PADI dive courses from around age ten. Snorkelling safaris, sandbank trips and night fishing all suit older children.
