Eight incredible restaurants take you on a global culinary jaunt. Upgrade to an all-inclusive stay, and you can effortlessly rotate between six restaurants, with all access to drinks, artisanal ice cream and coffee, and a picnic basket for excursions.
MIXE is the island’s main buffet-style restaurant. The sand floor and high thatched roof brings a relaxed vibe, while live cooking stations include wood-fired pizzas and stir-fries. Poolside Senses focuses on fresh fish and grilled seafood; East Market is designed to echo the style, scents and flavours of an Asian street food market; and Allegria serves up home-made Mediterranean classics from an open kitchen in a beachfront setting. Japanese favourites like sashimi and teppankayi are the stand-outs at Umami, while Beach Rouge Beach Club specialises in pizzas and salads served by the lagoon.
For drinks, grab your coffee fix at Café LUX*, or for something stronger, there’s Senses Bar, overwater East Bar, poolside Veli Bar and the sociable Lagoon Bar by the beach.
The sunset ambience at Beach Rouge makes it our favourite spot for golden hour, complete with cocktails and a DJ.
Mixe — On the beach with a warm ocean breeze. It’s a buffet restaurant, but the chefs are busy behind live cooking stations cooking it fresh for you. Senses — Semi open-air and open for lunch and dinner, Senses is a poolside restaurant serving salads, grills, and local seafood. It’s also a bar and lounge, so you can pop by for a drink even if you’re not dining. Allegria — The best Italian dishes are served on a deck by the beach. Open nightly for dinner. East Market — Open for breakfast and dinner, this market-style restaurant brings flavours of southeast Asia to the Maldives. Lagoon Bar — An classic beach bar made modern, right on the sand, serving lunch and drinks to reggae beats. Café Lux — * Coffee is taken seriously here – the beans are island-roasted and then blended into excellent brews by skilled baristas, including cold press, pour overs, and nitro coffee. Veli Pool Bar — A relaxing pool bar where you can grab a bite for lunch. Beach Rouge — Fresh Mediterranean dishes in an oh-so-cool setting with beach club vibes and a sunset DJ set every night. Umami — Serving modern Japanese cuisine for dinner. ICI — The ever-popular ice cream parlour. East Bar — Serving evening drinks over the water.

Diving in the Maldives
In the South Malé Atoll, Hukrueli is another place to see rays and cleaner fish, and Maaya Thila, a protected marine area, is home to white-tip sharks, turtles, zebra morays and the elusive guitar shark. Hanifaru lagoon in the Baa Atoll is one of the best places to see whale sharks and manta rays – June to September being the best time as this is during the monsoon season and equinox when the lagoon is filled with plankton. The Scuba Diver course provides pre-entry level certification in three days and on completion you can then upgrade to an Open Water Diver qualification by taking the additional five day course. Our Ten Dives and Six Consecutive Days diving allow qualified divers to make the most of their time in these beautiful islands. Courses are available at Kurumba Maldives, Dhigali Maldives, Velidhu and Meeru.

Do I need a visa to visit the Maldives?
British passport holders are issued a free 30-day visitor visa on arrival. You'll need a passport valid for the duration of your stay, a confirmed onward ticket and proof of your accommodation booking.
When is the best time to visit the Maldives?
November to April is the dry season, with the most reliable sunshine and calmest seas. May to October brings shorter rain showers, lower prices and better surf.
What currency is used in the Maldives, and do I need cash?
The local currency is the Maldivian rufiyaa, but resorts price and bill in US dollars and take major cards. Most guests never need cash — a small amount is handy for tipping.
Is the Maldives good for honeymoons outside peak season?
Yes. Off-peak brings noticeably lower rates and quieter islands, and rain tends to come in short bursts rather than all day. Many resorts add honeymoon extras during these months.
What activities are there for older kids and teens in the Maldives?
Most resorts run watersports centres with windsurfing, kayaking and paddleboarding, plus PADI dive courses from around age ten. Snorkelling safaris, sandbank trips and night fishing all suit older children.
