Cinnamon Dhonveli Maldives
Unwind in a casual, all-inclusive surf resort
Settle into the laid-back lifestyle of Cinnamon Dhonveli.
Cinnamon Dhonveli is a popular resort, and it’s easy to see why. There are no airs and graces here, just an easy-going vibe that will cocoon you in its tropical folds. Opt for the all inclusive and all your food and drinks will be taken care of, leaving you free to peruse the cocktail menu and help yourself to an extra snack guilt-free – you’re on holiday, after all. We won’t judge if you find your favourite spot on the sandy shore and barely move. But there’s plenty more to tempt you away from your sun lounger, including island hopping adventures, sunset fishing, and dolphin watching. The resort also has incredible surf on one side of the island and gentle snorkelling on the other.

Why our experts like it
We've done the exploring, asked the locals, made the mistakes, and found the gems... so you don't have to start from scratch! These are the bits we think you'll love the most. Think of it as travel advice from a friend who just got back and can't wait to tell you everything.

If you love French cuisine, look no further than La Belle Vie

An incredible way to kick off your Maldives holiday
“There's something pretty special about travelling by seaplane. The view from the sky is extraordinary - tiny specs of island and shades of blue that barely look real.”

The iconic, mile-long sandbank
Perfect for isolated sunbathing, dramatic photoshoots, and watching breathtaking Maldivian sunsets.

Snorkelling and diving isn't the only way to catch sight of the underwater world
“If snorkelling and diving isn't for you, it's possible to catch a glimpse of the reef from a glass-bottomed boat instead.”

Food & drink
You’ll be allocated one of three buffet restaurants to dine at throughout your stay, depending on where you’re located on the island, although you can request to eat at the others, too. The resort’s bars are carefully positioned for watching surfers during the day, and the sunset come evening.
For dining, you’ll be allocated one of the three restaurants – Koimala, Maakana or Rehendhi. All serve international buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Koimala — is a large family-style buffet restaurant with tables set under the high thatched roof and on the beach. Maakana (named after the island's grey herons) is a large buffet restaurant close to the Garden Bungalows and the island's surf break, with a circular design and vibrant atmosphere. The gourmet buffet-style Rehendhi restaurant has a bar, located by the overwater suites. Its most popular dishes include spicy Maldivian curries and grilled king prawns.
Raalhu Bar — ’s outdoor deck overlooks a renowned surf point, and dolphins and even pilot whales can occasionally be spotted, while the Raiyvilaa Bar is the perfect spot for sundowners. There's also a day-time juice bar on the beach for refreshing tropical juices... pairing them with rum or vodka is optional.
We love the easy-going vibe of Raalhu Bar, where you can chat with the bar staff and then find a shady spot to savour the sea views.
Koimala — The resort’s largest restaurant invites guests of Superior Rooms, Garden Bungalows, Beach Bungalows and Junior Beach Suites to indulge in creations from the live cooking stations. Maakana — Open to guests staying in the Water Bungalows, Maakana has sensational views of waves crashing at Pasta Point. Rehendi — \ Guests of Overwater Suites and Beach Suites with Pool are invited to dine at Rehendi, where buffet offerings can be enjoyed inside the restaurant, on the deck, and under the stars. Other guests can eat here at a supplement. Raiyvilla Bar — The resort’s sunset bar is the perfect location to finish a day in paradise. You’ll also find books from all over the world to borrow. Raalhu Bar — Listen to the sound of the ocean at Pasta Point as you sip on an icy drink. Come in the daytime to watch the surfers tackle the waves. Beach Bar — Order a fruity concoction and find a spot to enjoy the lagoon view. Open all day from 10am to 6pm.

Diving in the Maldives
In the South Malé Atoll, Hukrueli is another place to see rays and cleaner fish, and Maaya Thila, a protected marine area, is home to white-tip sharks, turtles, zebra morays and the elusive guitar shark. Hanifaru lagoon in the Baa Atoll is one of the best places to see whale sharks and manta rays – June to September being the best time as this is during the monsoon season and equinox when the lagoon is filled with plankton. The Scuba Diver course provides pre-entry level certification in three days and on completion you can then upgrade to an Open Water Diver qualification by taking the additional five day course. Our Ten Dives and Six Consecutive Days diving allow qualified divers to make the most of their time in these beautiful islands. Courses are available at Kurumba Maldives, Dhigali Maldives, Velidhu and Meeru.

Questions? Sorted.
Do I need a visa to visit the Maldives?
British passport holders are issued a free 30-day visitor visa on arrival. You'll need a passport valid for the duration of your stay, a confirmed onward ticket and proof of your accommodation booking.
When is the best time to visit the Maldives?
November to April is the dry season, with the most reliable sunshine and calmest seas. May to October brings shorter rain showers, lower prices and better surf.
What currency is used in the Maldives, and do I need cash?
The local currency is the Maldivian rufiyaa, but resorts price and bill in US dollars and take major cards. Most guests never need cash — a small amount is handy for tipping.
Is the Maldives good for honeymoons outside peak season?
Yes. Off-peak brings noticeably lower rates and quieter islands, and rain tends to come in short bursts rather than all day. Many resorts add honeymoon extras during these months.
What activities are there for older kids and teens in the Maldives?
Most resorts run watersports centres with windsurfing, kayaking and paddleboarding, plus PADI dive courses from around age ten. Snorkelling safaris, sandbank trips and night fishing all suit older children.
