Maldives

The paradise island resorts of dreams await in the Maldives, a cluster of Indian Ocean atolls. Not all islands are the same - some are perfect for 'just the two of us' breaks while others families are welcomed with open arms. While you could be forgiven for doing very little, there are a surprising amount of things to do - especially out on or under the water.

Explore coral reefs, shipwrecks, and house reefs
Spend a day getting up close and personal with the Maldives' best-kept secrets. Beneath the surface lies a world of colourful coral, darting fish, and the occasional curious turtle, not to mention shipwrecks that have been quietly gathering stories (and barnacles) for decades. Grab a snorkel or strap on a tank; either way, you're in for a show.
Indulge in overwater or underwater spa therapies
Whether suspended above turquoise waters or nestled beneath the surface, the spa is where time slows right down. Skilled therapists draw on local ingredients and time-honoured techniques to deliver massages, facials, and wellness rituals, leaving you feeling renewed and recharged.

These are some of my favourite things to do in the Maldives... the things I recommend time and time again!

Getting your bearings
In the area — Maldives
The Maldives is unusual in that the geography does the work: each resort has its own island, so the beach outside your room is the whole property's beach. What changes between them is the house reef, the flight or boat transfer, and how much you want to be looked after.

An incredible way to kick off your Maldives holiday
“There's something pretty special about travelling by seaplane. The view from the sky is extraordinary - tiny specs of island and shades of blue that barely look real.”

Snorkelling and diving isn't the only way to catch sight of the underwater world
If snorkelling and diving isn't for you, it's possible to catch a glimpse of the reef from a glass-bottomed boat instead.

The iconic, mile-long sandbank
Perfect for isolated sunbathing, dramatic photoshoots, and watching breathtaking Maldivian sunsets.

I proposed to my wife in the Maldives, so yes, I may be a little biased. But there really is nowhere on earth quite like it, and I love helping people find their own perfect moment out there.

Premium spirits, à la carte restaurants and excursions in the rate.
All-inclusive in the Maldives ranges from a buffet and a house wine to something close to full board at a serious hotel. This trip is at the second end, where the snorkelling trips and the sunset sail are already paid for.

Customer quote
We booked a 12-night honeymoon in the South Malé Atoll — overwater villa, transfers, excursions, the lot. Everything was arranged in advance so there were no surprises on arrival, which made a real difference after a long-haul flight. The villa itself was exactly as described and the resort staff were excellent throughout.
