The 214 contemporary rooms are inspired by traditional Mauritian seaside bungalows, with a rustic-chic design. They feature the standard mod cons as well as pieces created by local artists and craftsmen. Everything from the Superior Rooms and adults-only Couple Deluxe Rooms up to the Family Apartments and couples-only Privilege Junior Beachfront Suites has a real welcoming vibe and plenty of authentic touches. The Deluxe Family Room has two bedrooms, a double and a twin with a pullout single if needed, so everyone gets their own private space.

Not only does Zilwa offer local delicacies, it also serves Indian, Chinese and European cuisine to reflect the diversity of the island. Each of the seven restaurants gives you a new taste experience, while many also host special cooking evenings where you can try your hand at creating Creole cuisine and enjoy it afterwards. NB. All restaurants requite pre-booking, apaprt from Karay and Taba-J.
In keeping with the islander theme, all the restaurants and bars are named with Creole words and continue using traditional styles of décor with contemporary touches. The main restaurant Karay is open at breakfast and dinner and serves a range of Asian, Indian and Mauritian cuisine in a buffet style. There is also a different theme each evening for dinner. Siaw specialises in Asian cuisine with show kitchens allowing you to watch the magic in the kitchen. Siaw is only open for dinner and has a relaxed yet refined atmosphere. At the newest restaurant Tadka you can enjoy authentic Indian flavours and dishes cooked in the traditional tandoor oven.
The adults-only Lor Disab is one of the most relaxed restaurants, where you can dine with your toes in the sand right out on the beach. Open for lunch and dinner offering a vast array of dishes with local influences. You’ll also find the Lor Disab Bar here, serving an array of colourful cocktails and other beverages whilst you gaze up at the stars for the comfort of your own beanbag or hammock. The snack bar Taba-J is open for lunch and afternoon tea, with a great variety of traditional Mauritian snacks, and for afternoon tea, pancakes, cakes and pastries. At Siro Kann you can enjoy paninis and sandwiches as well a home-made rum workshop on Monday, Wednesday and Friday before enjoying a range of cocktails using your rum. There is also the signature Zilwa cocktail, ideally sipped whilst relaxing in chic surround.
There are two new additions at Zilwa Attitude: the Juice Bar and the tea bar, Tea Baz. The latter is open in the afternoon and serves teas, coffees and pastries.
Don’t miss the Robinson Crusoe adventure of a barbecue lunch on a private island just a five-minute boat ride from shore.

When is the best time to visit the Maldives?
November to April is the dry season, with the most reliable sunshine and calmest seas. May to October brings shorter rain showers, lower prices and better surf.
What currency is used in the Maldives, and do I need cash?
The local currency is the Maldivian rufiyaa, but resorts price and bill in US dollars and take major cards. Most guests never need cash — a small amount is handy for tipping.
Is the Maldives good for honeymoons outside peak season?
Yes. Off-peak brings noticeably lower rates and quieter islands, and rain tends to come in short bursts rather than all day. Many resorts add honeymoon extras during these months.
What activities are there for older kids and teens in the Maldives?
Most resorts run watersports centres with windsurfing, kayaking and paddleboarding, plus PADI dive courses from around age ten. Snorkelling safaris, sandbank trips and night fishing all suit older children.
