The Verandah Antigua
Space to roam
This relaxing village-style all-inclusive resort has enough space to unwind and adventures to discover.
The Verandah gives you room to spread out, with two white-sand beaches, sweeping grounds, and plenty of quiet corners to claim as your own. Days can be active (hello kayaking, mini-golf, and nature trails), or as slow as you like (think blissful long lunches and icy poolside cocktails). Adults-only and all-inclusive, it strikes the balance between relaxed seclusion and a sociable buzz when you want it. Wake up to the sounds of waves, wander through tropical gardens and take your pick of sun-soaked spots to unwind. Whether you're paddling across calm turquoise waters or lingering over a sunset drink, every moment here feels easy and unhurried. This is the kind of escape where you set the pace and paradise does the rest.

An incredible way to kick off your Maldives holiday
“There's something pretty special about travelling by seaplane. The view from the sky is extraordinary - tiny specs of island and shades of blue that barely look real.”

The iconic, mile-long sandbank
Perfect for isolated sunbathing, dramatic photoshoots, and watching breathtaking Maldivian sunsets.

Snorkelling and diving isn't the only way to catch sight of the underwater world
“If snorkelling and diving isn't for you, it's possible to catch a glimpse of the reef from a glass-bottomed boat instead.”

There is also the Beach Grill and the drop in or eat-in Papa Rico's Pizzeria; alternatively, you could enjoy evening entertainment at the Pool Bar or the an informal atmosphere at the Wavy Wicket Pub. Another drinking hole is the Lazy Pelican Beach Bar which has an unrivalled setting on the stunning Lover's Beach.
Dine beneath lofty vaulted ceilings at Seabreeze, the main restaurant, which serves a buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner and also offers regular themed evenings. For a slightly more formal atmosphere head to Buccaneer which offers an à la carte menu (reservation required). Splash out on a fine dining experience at Nicole's, an elegant venue serving Caribbean-inspired cuisine and deliciously fresh lobster (US$40 dining supplement payable and subject to season and availability).
Beach Bar & Grill — sits above the main beach and is a scenic spot to enjoy light lunches, snacks and beers with the cool sea breeze on your skin as you admire stunning views of the whole cove. It is also open for dinner on select evenings and reservations are advisable as the twinkling lights of the bay below provide a romantic setting for dinner. Hand Crafted Guided Tour of Antigua
The adventure begins with a drive through the diverse vegetation of the Antigua Rainforest to get to your first stop, Nelson's Dockyard National Park. This historic landmark was developed as a British Navy base in the late 18th Century but gradually became abandoned in the 19th Century before completely closing in 1889. Today, Nelson's Dockyard has been rejuvenated and labelled as a World Heritage Site and has a unique combination of rich heritage and beautiful surroundings. Moving on from the dockyard, you'll head up to Shirley Heights to admire the iconic views overlooking the English Harbour which stretch as far as Montserrat, and Guadeloupe. Back in the day, this lookout was a hugely important signal station to alert the entire island of any approaches to the harbour. Today, however, it’s a spot that people flock to for postcard-worthy pictures. • Year-round departures • Departs daily • Duration: 4 to 6 hours

Antiguan Cooking Class
Trying not to get too distracted by the breathtaking views out over the shimmering sea, you’ll learn how to create gastronomic masterpieces with locally farmed produce and herbs along with a special blend of spices, highlighting their health values, to create an extraordinary meal. You’ll prepare a two-course lunch, before sitting down to enjoy your culinary creations and your own, personally made rum punch. It’s a delightful way to spend a morning that will particularly appeal to honeymooners, couples and groups of friends. • Duration: half day • Daily departures • Operates year-round • Group experience Good to know — The class operates with between six to 12 participants.

Questions? Sorted.
Do I need a visa to visit the Maldives?
British passport holders are issued a free 30-day visitor visa on arrival. You'll need a passport valid for the duration of your stay, a confirmed onward ticket and proof of your accommodation booking.
When is the best time to visit the Maldives?
November to April is the dry season, with the most reliable sunshine and calmest seas. May to October brings shorter rain showers, lower prices and better surf.
What currency is used in the Maldives, and do I need cash?
The local currency is the Maldivian rufiyaa, but resorts price and bill in US dollars and take major cards. Most guests never need cash — a small amount is handy for tipping.
Is the Maldives good for honeymoons outside peak season?
Yes. Off-peak brings noticeably lower rates and quieter islands, and rain tends to come in short bursts rather than all day. Many resorts add honeymoon extras during these months.
What activities are there for older kids and teens in the Maldives?
Most resorts run watersports centres with windsurfing, kayaking and paddleboarding, plus PADI dive courses from around age ten. Snorkelling safaris, sandbank trips and night fishing all suit older children.
