The House, Barbados, An Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Hotel - Adults Only
An intimate beachfront retreat that feels like a private home
From the moment you step through the oversized wooden doors into the airy reception area, The House’s beguiling atmosphere begins to work its magic. There’s the sight of the turquoise sea just beyond, and the warm welcome from your personal service ambassador – there are formalities here. It all adds to the feeling of being in a luxurious private home, with just 34 rooms and suites creating a sense of private intimacy.
From the moment you step through the oversized wooden doors into the airy reception area, The House’s beguiling atmosphere begins to work its magic. The sight of the turquoise sea just beyond certainly helps to induce an instant feeling of relaxation, as does the warm welcome from your personal service ambassador – there are no front-desk formalities here. It all adds to the feeling of being in a discreetly luxurious private home, where comfort comes first and the days unwind however you choose. With its hard-to-better beachside setting, laidback culinary scene and imaginative selection of things to do, The House is destined to become one of the island’s best-loved adults-only, all-inclusive resorts.
That sense of being nurtured is very much to the fore at the new boutique spa, whose two treatment rooms are scented with calming gardenia, neroli, petitgrain and sweet orange. It’s also a theme that runs through the various activities on offer, from yoga in the verdant gardens to water sports that combine mindfulness with exploration. We love the stand-up paddleboard sessions, where you can glide above gently waving sea grass looking for sea turtles, while kayak trips provide a chance to explore the glorious coastline further. The calm Caribbean waters are the perfect place to learn more pulse-racing activities such as waterskiing and Hobie Cat sailing with complimentary lessons from Aqua School’s expert instructors.
This stylish, adults-only boutique, set amid tropical gardens and overlooking a crescent white beach, is a peaceful, grown-up hideaway.

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a visa to visit the Maldives?
British passport holders are issued a free 30-day visitor visa on arrival. You'll need a passport valid for the duration of your stay, a confirmed onward ticket and proof of your accommodation booking.
When is the best time to visit the Maldives?
November to April is the dry season, with the most reliable sunshine and calmest seas. May to October brings shorter rain showers, lower prices and better surf.
What currency is used in the Maldives, and do I need cash?
The local currency is the Maldivian rufiyaa, but resorts price and bill in US dollars and take major cards. Most guests never need cash — a small amount is handy for tipping.
Is the Maldives good for honeymoons outside peak season?
Yes. Off-peak brings noticeably lower rates and quieter islands, and rain tends to come in short bursts rather than all day. Many resorts add honeymoon extras during these months.
What activities are there for older kids and teens in the Maldives?
Most resorts run watersports centres with windsurfing, kayaking and paddleboarding, plus PADI dive courses from around age ten. Snorkelling safaris, sandbank trips and night fishing all suit older children.
