If you’re looking for an all-inclusive resort that the whole family will enjoy, the Royal Palace could be just the place. It’s no overstatement to say there really is something for everyone here. There’s a kids club so they can make some buddies on holiday, but there’s lots to get involved with altogether as a family, too – whizzing down the waterslides and friendly poolside competitions, for starters. And if you consider yourself more of a beach person, you’ll love the swathe of golden sand here with water sports available if you fancy upping the tempo.

The 470 rooms and suites have a classic feel with crushed velvet upholstery and chandelier embellishments. While there are fancy touches, the overall impression is quite modest, which is fine if you don’t mind forgoing a little style for the location and the facilities you get at the Royal Palace. The Family Suites make for a spacious option if you’re bringing your kids with you, with a two-bedroom option which gives everyone a proper bed to sleep in, rather than a sofa bed or rollaway.

Do I need a visa to visit the Maldives?

When is the best time to visit the Maldives?
November to April is the dry season, with the most reliable sunshine and calmest seas. May to October brings shorter rain showers, lower prices and better surf.
What currency is used in the Maldives, and do I need cash?
The local currency is the Maldivian rufiyaa, but resorts price and bill in US dollars and take major cards. Most guests never need cash — a small amount is handy for tipping.
Is the Maldives good for honeymoons outside peak season?
Yes. Off-peak brings noticeably lower rates and quieter islands, and rain tends to come in short bursts rather than all day. Many resorts add honeymoon extras during these months.
What activities are there for older kids and teens in the Maldives?
