Shamwari’s newest luxury tented camp has been designed to echo a solitary leopard’s sanctuary, blending into the bushveld while offering stunning views over the Bushman’s River and rolling plains. Sindile is secluded, intimate and incredibly tranquil as it welcomes adults only. The dining area and bar make the most of the views over the reserve, and the fire pit is the perfect place to gather around in the evenings. Game drives in the popular Shamwari Private Game Reserve are included in your stay, giving you the opportunity to spot wonderful wildlife or visit the nearby Born Free Big Cat Sanctuaries and wildlife rehabilitation centre. Each of the nine luxury tents is elevated for beautiful views. These individual tents have been designed to blend with the natural surroundings – you’ll be deep in the wild bushveld, but still have the benefit of mod cons including Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, a Nespresso machine and a minibar. There’s also the bonus of a heated plunge pool on your private deck for the ultimate way to relax with an icy drink at the end of the day’s adventures.

Each of the nine free-standing tents at Sindile have been elevated to minimise the impact on the environment. There is no compromise when it comes to the luxury in the air-conditioned tents. En suite bathrooms have a shower and a bath with a view over the wilderness. The spacious rooms have a lounge area with indoor fireplace, Nespresso coffee machine and mini bar whilst outside there is a deck with a private heated plunge pool.

Visit the Born Free Big Cat Sanctuaries at Shamwari Private Game Reserve
Behind each of the big cats in their care, there is often a traumatic story. The rescued lions and leopards at the sanctuaries have grown up in appalling conditions of captivity. Whilst they should have been born in the wild, where they belong, unfortunately re-wilding them is not possible. With a dedicated team to monitor them as they adapt to their new surroundings, the sanctuaries give them a better home than they have ever known. There are two centres that Shamwari guests can visit. Located in the southern part of Shamwari Private Game Reserve, the Julie Ward Centre was established in 1999 and provides sanctuary for the rescued cats. Education is also a vital role of what they do and at the Jean Byrd Education Centre, in the northern part of the reserve, guests, local schools and colleges come to learn about South Africa’s wildlife and the importance of conservation for future generations.

Do I need a visa to visit the Maldives?

When is the best time to visit the Maldives?
November to April is the dry season, with the most reliable sunshine and calmest seas. May to October brings shorter rain showers, lower prices and better surf.
