Nyamatusi Camp
Zambezi views
Safari sophistication meets the wild Zambezi at this luxury tented camp in Mana Pools National Park.
Located in a rugged and remote corner of Zimbabwe, you will find Nyamatusi Camp. Nyamatusi means ‘wild game’ and you will understand why as you follow the tracks of elephants on a walking safari or look for hippos on a thrilling canoe safari on the mighty Zambezi. With the Zambezi River on its doorstep, the sweeping views at Nyamatusi Camp are exquisite. There’s a real sense of seclusion here, and the elegant design is especially nostalgic of the wild setting that surrounds it. The camp sits right on the riverbank, and the main two-tiered lodge is indulgently open-plan. Throughout, soft neutral colours complement contemporary African furnishings, and each level includes an expansive viewing deck to maximise after-hours game viewing opportunities. There are just six elegant suites spread out along the riverfront. Each one is tented and luxurious, and the views are just superb. Designed with a sophisticated style in mind, the canvas tents are raised onto wooden decks and include fold-back screen doors and cosy indoor seating areas. At the rear, the bathrooms include an outdoor shower, and a couple indulge with a private bathtub. With the ultimate luxury in mind – especially for when the summer temperatures soar – the suites include a private deck with a plunge pool where you can cool off between your safari activities. Led by expert guides, morning and afternoon game drives explore this beautiful region where you may see lion, leopard, zebra, wildebeest and the rare roan antelope. Bird watchers will not be disappointed with over 380 species including scarlet carmine bee-eaters that nest in the riverbanks in the dry months.

“There's something pretty special about travelling by seaplane. The view from the sky is extraordinary - tiny specs of island and shades of blue that barely look real.”

Canoeing on the great Zambezi
You may find elephants feeding by the river and sometimes they may cross right in front of you. Keep an eye on the shoreline as lions, waterbucks, impalas and birdlife come to drink in the river. Sundowners are normally set up by the water just when the sun is setting behind the escarpment on the Zambian side. You may hear the hippos honking and elephants from behind you and sometimes you get to hear lions calling.

Questions? Sorted.
Do I need a visa to visit the Maldives?
British passport holders are issued a free 30-day visitor visa on arrival. You'll need a passport valid for the duration of your stay, a confirmed onward ticket and proof of your accommodation booking.
When is the best time to visit the Maldives?
November to April is the dry season, with the most reliable sunshine and calmest seas. May to October brings shorter rain showers, lower prices and better surf.
What currency is used in the Maldives, and do I need cash?
The local currency is the Maldivian rufiyaa, but resorts price and bill in US dollars and take major cards. Most guests never need cash — a small amount is handy for tipping.
Is the Maldives good for honeymoons outside peak season?
Yes. Off-peak brings noticeably lower rates and quieter islands, and rain tends to come in short bursts rather than all day. Many resorts add honeymoon extras during these months.
What activities are there for older kids and teens in the Maldives?
Most resorts run watersports centres with windsurfing, kayaking and paddleboarding, plus PADI dive courses from around age ten. Snorkelling safaris, sandbank trips and night fishing all suit older children.
