Hotel Cipriani, a Belmond Hotel, Venice
Glamour and gourmet dining
You don’t have to be in the heart of Venice to truly appreciate its beauty. Sometimes it’s better to enjoy a little time away from the crowds but still easily pop over to the city when you want. This Belmond hotel, which is located on the island of Giudecca, gives you just that. There are very few, if any, hotels that have a pool in Venice due to their size and the nature of the city; the Belmond hotel has an Olympic-sized pool in its extensive grounds. And as you laze by the water, attentive hosts will be on hand to cater to your every whim whether that’s a refreshing drink or a light snack. There are also plenty of shaded spots to head to in the gardens, some with beautiful views out over the water, and there’s even a tennis court in the grounds. The interiors are pretty special, too, with one-of-a-kind antiques furnishing grand spaces, dark wood accents and light-filled lounges.

Each morning you can spend a while in bed before heading down to the dedicated breakfast room to make the most of an extensive buffet. Lunch is a casual affair and takes place at the al fresco Cip’s Club which has a deck over the water and Venice City views. This restaurant is also open for dinner and is one of the city’s most romantic spots for a dinner ‘per due’. The Michelin-starred Oro Restaurant is the hotel's delightful waterside setting; open only for dinner, the restaurant's design is sublime with a gold-leaf gilded ceiling and a striking glass chandelier.
An ultra-luxurious hotel located just five minutes by boat from St Mark’s Square.

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a visa to visit the Maldives?
British passport holders are issued a free 30-day visitor visa on arrival. You'll need a passport valid for the duration of your stay, a confirmed onward ticket and proof of your accommodation booking.
When is the best time to visit the Maldives?
November to April is the dry season, with the most reliable sunshine and calmest seas. May to October brings shorter rain showers, lower prices and better surf.
What currency is used in the Maldives, and do I need cash?
The local currency is the Maldivian rufiyaa, but resorts price and bill in US dollars and take major cards. Most guests never need cash — a small amount is handy for tipping.
Is the Maldives good for honeymoons outside peak season?
Yes. Off-peak brings noticeably lower rates and quieter islands, and rain tends to come in short bursts rather than all day. Many resorts add honeymoon extras during these months.
What activities are there for older kids and teens in the Maldives?
Most resorts run watersports centres with windsurfing, kayaking and paddleboarding, plus PADI dive courses from around age ten. Snorkelling safaris, sandbank trips and night fishing all suit older children.
