Hotel Castello, Forte Village
Village verve
Of all the accommodation options at the magnificent Forte Village, Il Castello has one of the best spots – not only does it overlook the Mediterranean Sea, but it’s nestled in a particularly private pocket. It’s also one of the most luxurious choices. You’ll have access to the multitude of facilities, but there’s also a pool that’s just for the lucky guests of Hotel Il Castello, too.
If being just a short distance from the beach, as well as a secluded setting is important to you then the Hotel Castello, is the perfect choice. There is a real feeling of exclusivity here with a private pool just for the sole of the guests in the resort’s Five Star properties. And your view from your poolside sun lounger is sea, sea and more sea. The style here is typically Sardinian with warm tones and light-filled public spaces such as the lounge and Bandiere Bar. With the beach and water so close it would be a shame not to make the most of the watersports on offer at the Boat House; and you can even learn a new sport such as windsurfing or waterskiing.
The designated restaurant for Castello guests is the garden restaurant Cavalieri, which is located within the hotel itself. Breakfast is served here each morning and by night there is extensive buffet as well as show cooking on the barbecue grill. Sardinian specialities and Italian dishes including pasta and the typical local charcuterie (preserved meats) also are on offer here. There are four other restaurants where you can enjoy dinner as part of your half board package while other restaurants can be booked and enjoyed for a supplement.
A luxury beachfront option in a secluded setting in the sprawling Forte Village.

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a visa to visit the Maldives?
British passport holders are issued a free 30-day visitor visa on arrival. You'll need a passport valid for the duration of your stay, a confirmed onward ticket and proof of your accommodation booking.
When is the best time to visit the Maldives?
November to April is the dry season, with the most reliable sunshine and calmest seas. May to October brings shorter rain showers, lower prices and better surf.
What currency is used in the Maldives, and do I need cash?
The local currency is the Maldivian rufiyaa, but resorts price and bill in US dollars and take major cards. Most guests never need cash — a small amount is handy for tipping.
Is the Maldives good for honeymoons outside peak season?
Yes. Off-peak brings noticeably lower rates and quieter islands, and rain tends to come in short bursts rather than all day. Many resorts add honeymoon extras during these months.
What activities are there for older kids and teens in the Maldives?
Most resorts run watersports centres with windsurfing, kayaking and paddleboarding, plus PADI dive courses from around age ten. Snorkelling safaris, sandbank trips and night fishing all suit older children.
