Tuck into breakfast at NINETEEN Buffet Restaurant plus lunch and dinner buffets with everything from roasts to ribs and sushi to salads. There’s a pool bar and a couple of places to choose from for snacks or an evening drink, and be sure to visit the Café de l’Opera on the ground floor, on the corner of historic Dong Khoi Street and Lam Son Square – this has been a popular haunt for travellers and locals alike since the hotel opened its doors back in 1959.
Enjoy dinner with an emphasis on local Vietnamese produce at the fine-dining Reflections Restaurant, with its third-floor setting overlooking the streets of Ho Chi Minh City and an international specials menu which changes every two months. NINETEEN Buffet Restaurant is renowned for its seafood buffet, with ingredients fresh from the East Sea and Phu Quoc – you can also enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets here every day, as well as Sunday Brunch. Head down to the ground floor of the hotel for Café de l’Opera, where high tea is served before livelier evenings of tapas, cocktails and wine accompanied by jazz music during happy hour. Saigon Saigon Rooftop Bar also has a daily happy hour from 4-7pm as well as live music and dancing from 9pm – this is a lovely spot for relaxed drinks, snacks and sharing platters. Next to Reflections Restaurant you’ll find the Martini Bar, which was previously home to the CBS news bureau during coverage of the Vietnam War, and the Tapas Kitchen offers a wide selection of light bites, an à la carte breakfast menu, sandwiches and salads.

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a visa to visit the Maldives?
British passport holders are issued a free 30-day visitor visa on arrival. You'll need a passport valid for the duration of your stay, a confirmed onward ticket and proof of your accommodation booking.
When is the best time to visit the Maldives?
November to April is the dry season, with the most reliable sunshine and calmest seas. May to October brings shorter rain showers, lower prices and better surf.
What currency is used in the Maldives, and do I need cash?
The local currency is the Maldivian rufiyaa, but resorts price and bill in US dollars and take major cards. Most guests never need cash — a small amount is handy for tipping.
Is the Maldives good for honeymoons outside peak season?
Yes. Off-peak brings noticeably lower rates and quieter islands, and rain tends to come in short bursts rather than all day. Many resorts add honeymoon extras during these months.
What activities are there for older kids and teens in the Maldives?
Most resorts run watersports centres with windsurfing, kayaking and paddleboarding, plus PADI dive courses from around age ten. Snorkelling safaris, sandbank trips and night fishing all suit older children.
