The pampering starts from the word go. At Bayou Villas, you’re welcomed with a glass of chilled champagne, then a buggy whisks you to your luxurious villa.
With just 24 beautifully appointed villas, there’s an exclusive feel here, but with all the advantages of being attached to the Lara Barut Collection resort next door, where you can use all the facilities, including a spa and waterpark. While you’ve got your own private pool, if you fancy a beach day, this isn’t the type of place where you reserve a sunbed with a book. Here, every villa has its own private pavilion on the sand. And the beach refreshments are on point: cookies and coffee first thing, ice cream for elevenses, a cold towel service mid-afternoon, followed by homemade lemonade. And just as the sun begins to fade, listen for corks popping, marking the start of a sparkling wine service.

Do I need a visa to visit the Maldives?

When is the best time to visit the Maldives?
November to April is the dry season, with the most reliable sunshine and calmest seas. May to October brings shorter rain showers, lower prices and better surf.
What currency is used in the Maldives, and do I need cash?
The local currency is the Maldivian rufiyaa, but resorts price and bill in US dollars and take major cards. Most guests never need cash — a small amount is handy for tipping.
Is the Maldives good for honeymoons outside peak season?
Yes. Off-peak brings noticeably lower rates and quieter islands, and rain tends to come in short bursts rather than all day. Many resorts add honeymoon extras during these months.
