One of our favourite resorts, we think you’ll love the welcoming, relaxing vibe here at the Bandara Resort & Spa. Bo Phut Beach has a gentler pace than many of the other beaches on the island, which makes it an ideal location if you’re planning to really unwind. The hotel’s grounds are a point of pride and it’s hard to beat the shade of a cabana beside the main pool for relaxing during the day. It’s one of the largest freshwater pools on the island with a real wow-factor design. For a change of scenery, find a quiet spot by the beachfront pool and take in picture-postcard views over the Gulf of Thailand.

Top of the list is Wat Phra Yai, also known as Big Buddha Temple, on its own little island reached by a short causeway. Take in the hilltop view over the sparkling sea and marvel at one of natures peculiar wonders - Grandma and Grandpa Rocks. November to April is the dry season, with the most reliable sunshine and calmest seas. May to October brings shorter rain showers, lower prices and better surf.
What currency is used in the Maldives, and do I need cash?
The local currency is the Maldivian rufiyaa, but resorts price and bill in US dollars and take major cards. Most guests never need cash — a small amount is handy for tipping.
Is the Maldives good for honeymoons outside peak season?
Yes. Off-peak brings noticeably lower rates and quieter islands, and rain tends to come in short bursts rather than all day. Many resorts add honeymoon extras during these months.
