You’re never far from water at the stylish Amirandes – whether it’s sea-gazing over haute cuisine, swimming in the Olympic-sized pool, sipping sundowners by a glittering lagoon or sunbathing on the deck of your luxury suite, complete with its own private pool. The culinary scene is superb here, with nine restaurants and bars offering plenty of choice – from award-winning Greek mezze to avant-garde Asian and steak. We love that part of the produce used to create the dishes is from Grecotel's own farm, located in the hills one and a half hours away; you can visit Agreco and dine at the authentic Greek taverna for a true farm-to-table experience (transfers not included).
Expect unique drinks and dining experiences in opulent surrounds, whether it’s Champagne on the beach at the Sunset Lounge or hand-made ravioli in the Italian Minotaur. There’s a huge emphasis on local produce from the hotel’s own Agreco farm and catch-of-the day specials, whether you’re dining at Greek-style Xasteria or seafood restaurant Petrino. Amirandes is renowned for its sumptuous breakfast buffets, feather-light omelettes and farmhouse Cretan-style scrambled eggs with grape vine tomatoes. You can dine all day by the pool or at the Labyrinth Lagoon Bar and enjoy a special treat at guest favourite Blue Monkey where avant-garde Asian dishes are served in a chic, design-led restaurant. Kids are catered for with an all day buffet of healthy treats at the Tasty Corner, and on request special menus can be provided at Blue Monkey and Xasteria. For delicious and Instagramable desserts, head down to the lagoon-side Amirandes Gateau.

Xasteria — Head to this award-winning spot for authentic Cretan food made with organic produce from the Agreco Farm, and wash it down with a local wine. Labyrinth — This elegant lounge bar serves cocktails and other drinks into the early hours, with romantic views over the candlelit lagoon and regular live music for added atmosphere. Sunset Lounge — Set right on the beach, this cool lounge bar offers tiki cocktails and sushi to accompany dazzling sunsets. There’s also a casual beach bar open throughout the day. Do I need a visa to visit the Maldives?

When is the best time to visit the Maldives?
November to April is the dry season, with the most reliable sunshine and calmest seas. May to October brings shorter rain showers, lower prices and better surf.
What currency is used in the Maldives, and do I need cash?
The local currency is the Maldivian rufiyaa, but resorts price and bill in US dollars and take major cards. Most guests never need cash — a small amount is handy for tipping.
Is the Maldives good for honeymoons outside peak season?
