From the moment you see the perfectly framed view as you arrive into the lobby you can appreciate the fantastic beachfront setting and chilled-out and friendly atmosphere of this east-coast resort. The focal point is the large infinity pool which is just steps away from the sands of the sweeping beach; the walk along the beach towards Belle Mare is an enjoyable way to while away a couple of hours. A trip here wouldn’t be complete without a spa treatment to the sound of the waves in the oceanfront palapa, or a trip out onto the lagoon on a kayak or Laser dingy if you're looking for a romantic interlude.

Dining can be enjoyed at any of the resort’s three restaurants, two of which are included in the all-inclusive package. The main restaurant is the buffet venue Indigo which sits poolside and is open for breakfast and dinner. The theme at dinner changes regularly allowing for you to enjoy cuisine from around the world and there are plenty of gluten free as well as a range of healthy eating options. An alternative evening destination is Dolce Vita, an refreshed à la carte trattoria serving home-made pastas, grilled meats and wood-fired pizzas alongside an extensive wine and cocktail list; a selection of the restaurant’s premium dishes are subject to a supplement. At the beachfront restaurant La Plage, where dishes are available at a supplement, you can dine with your toes in the sand and an ocean backdrop. Next to La Plage, there's the rustic new Ti Bar where you can try some unique local cocktails that will be whipped up by the creative mixologist. For daytime drinks and poolside snacks, take a seat at the the cool and casual Coral Bar. H&H Lounge is the place to head after dinner: they have karaoke nights, live music and international sporting events on the big screen. It's also just steps from the resort's nightclub, Shakers.
Backing a stretch of coral beach, this relaxed all-inclusive resort is known for its welcoming service.

There are special seafood, meat and romantic dinner menus available here and can be enjoyed for a supplement. The third restaurant is the casual, beachside La Plage which serves a mix of Mediterranean and Mauritian dishes at lunch and dinner. While the food at this restaurant is not included in the all-inclusive package, the drinks are.
One of the most popular night spots at Ambre is the open-air Coral Bar where you can enjoy a selection of cocktails, fruit juices and speciality coffees. Each night there’s entertainment in the form of shows, bands and DJs. At the heart of the hotel you’ll find The H&H Lounge which is open from 6pm until late for cocktails and a variety of other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Dolphin And Whales Encounter
Catching your first glimpse of a dolphin racing beside your boat or spotting a giant humpback whale breaching on the ocean’s surface are moments that will stay with you forever. As you head out along the west coast, your experienced crew will begin briefing you on the types of dolphins and whales you can hope to spot and most importantly how to view these magnificent mammals in a sustainable and responsible manner. It won’t be long before you’re an expert at identifying the two types of dolphins found here – Bottlenose and Spinners – as you watch them play in their natural habitat. Sperm Whales call these waters home all year-round while between July and November giant Humpback Whales travel up from the arctic to breed and give birth. As you continue into deeper waters in search of these graceful creatures, the skippers will be on hand to answer all your questions and ensure you’re prepared for your first encounter. • Duration: half day • Time: 7.30am to 12.30pm • Monday to Saturday departures • Operates year Round • Private experience Good to know — As this experience involves wild animals, there’s no guarantee you’ll encounter the dolphins or whales in their natural habitat but the crew at Dolswim have a 90% success rate. Due to the nature of the activity this experience is not recommended for pregnant women, those who are physically challenged or children under five years old.

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a visa to visit the Maldives?
British passport holders are issued a free 30-day visitor visa on arrival. You'll need a passport valid for the duration of your stay, a confirmed onward ticket and proof of your accommodation booking.
When is the best time to visit the Maldives?
November to April is the dry season, with the most reliable sunshine and calmest seas. May to October brings shorter rain showers, lower prices and better surf.
What currency is used in the Maldives, and do I need cash?
The local currency is the Maldivian rufiyaa, but resorts price and bill in US dollars and take major cards. Most guests never need cash — a small amount is handy for tipping.
Is the Maldives good for honeymoons outside peak season?
Yes. Off-peak brings noticeably lower rates and quieter islands, and rain tends to come in short bursts rather than all day. Many resorts add honeymoon extras during these months.
What activities are there for older kids and teens in the Maldives?
Most resorts run watersports centres with windsurfing, kayaking and paddleboarding, plus PADI dive courses from around age ten. Snorkelling safaris, sandbank trips and night fishing all suit older children.
